Join us in UNITY

Pride 2024 begins with an intimate dining experience filled with discussion and reflection on creating LGBTQI+ unity internationally.

Hosted by Executive Director Rachael LeClear, Board Chair Maggie Lower, and celebrated chef and NY Times best selling author Gabrielle Hamilton, SafePlace International will gather at Hamilton’s PRUNE restaurant located in Manhattan’s East Village to discuss their global impact and future focus.

At a seated dinner with esteemed sponsors and advocates, guests will enjoy a three-course meal and complimentary craft cocktails and wine. We're happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions - just let us know at info@safeplaceinternational.org.

Meet Gabrielle

Gabrielle Hamilton is the chef and owner of PRUNE, which she opened in NYC’s East Village in October 1999. She was nominated for Best Chef in 2009 and 2019 by the James Beard Foundation, and in 2011, she won the category.

Gabrielle is most recently the author of the New York Times bestseller Blood, Bones, & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef, which has been published in six languages and won the James Beard Foundation’s award for Writing & Literature in 2012.

Meet SafePlace International

Launched in 2018 as a registered 501c3, SafePlace International (SPI) focuses on amplifying marginalized voices of the LGBTQI+ community around the world to build networks of safety and inclusivity filled with hope and joy.

With global and local partners, SPI provides safety and stability for LGBTQI+ persons that are forcibly displaced. SPI’s daily operations provide access to safe housing, food, supplies, and life-saving information to remote corners of the world.

The Dream Academy, SPI’s 10-week intensive virtual course led entirely by graduates turned team members provides a path to healing and growth. Its holistic curriculum helps new leaders turn shame and trauma into power and determination as they rise into positions of influence in their local institutions and communities. The goal? To create an international human network establishing safe places for our community’s most vulnerable.
